Smiles Over Miles

Smiles Over Miles expands an existing USO of North Carolina program to keep military families connected.

The original program brought families of deployed service members to its center to record and mail DVD messages to their loved ones. Now, fueled by the technology developed by Privacy Data Systems, active duty service members and their loved ones send video messages back and forth securely, through the Internet.

A Smiles Over Miles account allows families to exchange messages quickly. The ability for the service members and their families to see and hear each other through video provides the closest method of real-life communication that is possible during deployment.

 
We believe it is important to keep military families connected, despite a physical distance, so there are no limits to the number of messages a family can exchange.

Exchanging video through our secure messaging solution is safer and more reliable than bandwidth-heavy, traditional video streaming and social media messaging.

Our secure link eliminates any question as to who can access your video. Only the Smiles Over Miles account holder and the people that service member invites to share video messages have access.

Sending a video through a secure message doesn’t require the same bandwidth as streaming video and our secure message platform is accessible anywhere; while some social media tools are limited in certain war zones.
